 I won first prize in my age category for the Sausalito Song Competition!  Contestants from throughout northern California each presented three songs to a panel of three judges, all renowned experts in the fields of art song and musical theater.  Song selections were required to included an American Art Song, a song in a foreign language, and a song from musical theater or a third art song.  Contestants were judged primarily on song interpretation, as well as other aspects of vocal performance.  The day culminated in a concert for the public which featured the ten finalists.  One of the most exciting nights of my life and I would have invited people if I had known that I would be performing in the concert, but it was all a big surprise.
